It existed as nothing more than a distant memory. Twenty-five years had passed since I last laid eyes on her, she faded from my life forever. An emptiness pervaded my existence.
All that remained were fragments of our brief time together. As time flowed, those memories of her gradually grew dimmer fading away like unto a dimming star. Then, one night, a dream transpired.
In that dream, I saw her once more. Her beautiful smile radiating, accompanied by an apology for leaving me. Filled with happiness to be in her presence, I reassured her. The dream felt surreal, as if all our shared moments flooded back into focus.
As I awoke, I came to the realization it was just a dream, a final encounter with the distant memory of her in my life. I accepted that our paths would never cross again and it would be the very last time I would see her in my life was in a dream.
