THE LAST DREAM 

It was all but a distant memory.  That’s all it was.  It was twenty-five years ago since I last saw her when she left my life forever.  Life felt empty with nothing to fill the void. 
All I had was memories of our brief time together.  As time passed those memories of her faded.  Her image was only a blur to me until one night I had a dream.   
In the dream I saw her.  I remembered her beautiful smile as she told me how sorry she was for leaving me.  I told her everything was okay and I was just happy to be with her.    
The dream felt surreal.  All the memories I had of all the time we spent together came rushing back.  I felt everything in the past was clear again. 
I awoke only to find that everything was just a dream.  Although everything was just distant memory it would be the very last time I would see her in my life was in a dream.
