It was nothing more than a distant memory. Twenty-five years had passed since I last laid eyes on her as she faded from my life forever. An emptiness pervaded my life ever since.
All that remained were fragments of our brief time together. As time flowed, those memories of her gradually grew dimmer fading away like unto a dimming star. Then, one night, a dream transpired.
In that dream, I saw her once more. As she approached me I recalled her beautiful smile radiating and apologizing for leaving me. I reassured her that I was just happy to be with her this very moment. The dream felt surreal, as if all our shared moments flooded back into focus.
As I awoke, I came to the realization it was just a dream, a final encounter with the distant memory of her in my life. I accepted that I would never see her again and it would be the very last time I would see her in my life was in a dream.
